Kootenay Shambhala Centre Main Shrine

This is the main shrine at the Shambhala Centre. I have heard that when you go into other Shambhala Centres that the shrines should be fairly similar to this. There is continual work being done on the shrine, and throughout the centre. This is just what it looked like on the day I photographed it.

The large picture above the shrine is the Rigden Thangka which is a representation of what Shambhala practioners are in their basic nature. On the left is a picture of Sakyong Mipham the current "leader" of Shambhala, on the right is his father Chögyam Trungpa the founder of Shambhala.

Many people find that the shrine reminds them of why they are in the shrine room. Most of the time that is to meditating. The shrine breaks the cycle of getting hooked by your thoughts.
